About Us
The Mothers’ Union, Diocese of Accra was Established by the Sisters of the Holy Paraclete (+OHP) in October 1939.
The Mothers’ Union is an international organization founded in 1876 by a Clergy wife named Mary Elizabeth Sumner. Its headquarters is in London, United Kingdom. It presently has over 4 million members worldwide.
The Mothers’ Union, Diocese of Accra was established by the Sisters of the Holy Paraclete (+OHP) in October 1939.
In the early days, it consisted of only women who were married in church as this was a prerequisite at the time. This has evolved over the years and the Union is now open to all women
baptized in the name of the Trinity and intend to work for the aim and objects of the society.
It has a membership of approximately 500 women in twenty-three (23) Parishes (branches). Its Chief Patron is the Diocesan Bishop of Accra.
